President Paul Kagame on Thursday, August 28, bade farewell to his Mozambican counterpart Daniel Francisco Chapo at Kigali International Airport, marking the end of Chapo’s two-day working visit to Rwanda.

Urugwiro Village described the visit as a reaffirmation of “the shared commitment to further strengthen the existing fruitful bilateral collaboration for the benefit of the people of Rwanda and Mozambique.”
During the visit, the two Heads of State witnessed the signing of two key agreements, a Status of the Forces Agreement supporting Rwanda’s continued role in combating terrorism in Mozambique, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and Mozambique’s Investment and Export Promotion Agency.

Chapo, who was making his first visit to Rwanda since his election in October 2024, also attended a high-level business leaders’ roundtable on Thursday morning, where Rwandan and Mozambican investors discussed opportunities for expanding trade and investment between the two countries.
On Wednesday, Kagame and Chapo held a tête-à-tête discussion before joining their delegations for broader talks focused on peace, security, and economic development.
Rwanda and Mozambique have in recent years deepened their cooperation, with Rwandan security forces deployed in Cabo Delgado Province since 2021 to support Mozambique’s efforts against insurgency, alongside growing exchanges in trade and investment.
