The Rwanda Defence Force has stepped up efforts to bridge security awareness and tourism, with a fresh training targeting hospitality professionals on the history and security dynamics of the Great Lakes Region.
The session, delivered on March 24 by RDF Spokesperson Ronald Rwivanga, brought together 60 hospitality managers under the Rwanda Tour Guides Association and was held in Gasabo District.
Organised in partnership with Rwanda Chamber Tourism, It focused on deepening participants’ understanding of Rwanda’s historical context and the broader security landscape shaping the Great Lakes region.
The initiative, now in its second edition, was launched by the City of Kigali as part of broader efforts to promote informed engagement between the security sector and service industries, especially tourism.
Officials say the programme is designed to help tourism professionals better contextualise regional developments for visitors, while also highlighting Rwanda’s approach to stability, resilience, and security management.
Rwanda’s tourism sector has grown steadily in recent years, with authorities emphasising the role of knowledge-sharing in maintaining confidence among international visitors and stakeholders.
