Students at the University of Rwanda – Huye Campus received long-awaited support on loan issues, contract signing, and digital ID registration during an outreach held on Saturday, December 4, as part of the Minuza Festival.

Instead of students traveling to Kigali or district offices to resolve administrative challenges, BRD, NIDA, NESA and HEC brought their services directly to campus, giving students the opportunity to fix common problems that have affected their access to bursaries and academic delays especially this program was for year students.
During the first session, the BRD loan officer and other partners addressed students’ questions about loans and discussed the challenges they face, as well as how students can receive support without having to travel to the institutions’ headquarters.
“Our goal is to help students avoid unnecessary trips for services that can be resolved within minutes through proper collaboration with the campus,” said Désiré Gacinya, Director of Loan Management at BRD.
He emphasized that BRD aims to improve the student financing experience:
“We want students to receive the best services and get their bursary on time without any problem.”
UR Registrar Odette Uwizeye reminded students of the importance of working closely with their campus leaders to ensure their issues are addressed effectively.
“Let us build a culture of collaborating with your leaders on campus to make the work easier for both sides. Work with the student unions and campus administrators, because they are there to ensure your studies go well and to advocate for you instead of going to higher offices without consulting them first,” she said.
Moreover, help desks from BRD, NIDA, and HEC met with students face-to-face, offering direct support on issues such as contract signing, ID complications, bursary follow-up, and diploma-related concerns.
NIDA also captured students’ photos for the new digital ID, contributing to the national initiative to shift from physical identification to a fully digital ID system.
The event concluded with an entertainment session at the campus stadium as part of the continuing Minuza Festival with the several Rwandan artists Alyn Sano, KfK, Cyogere and Ruti Joel.
