Love Was Not Meant for Me in This Life, Tiwa Savage
Nigerian music superstar Tiwa Savage has revealed that she has never truly experienced genuine love in her life or in her relationships with others.
In an interview with Zeze Millz on August 8, 2025, the much-admired singer said the only true love she has ever known is the bond she shares with her son, Jamil.
She stated, “In my life, I have never truly experienced real love except for the love I get from my son.”
The award-winning artist, who has won numerous awards in different competitions, explained that although she was once married to her former manager, Balogun, they were never truly in love as a husband and wife should be.
She said, “Even when I look back at my marriage, I realize it wasn’t the kind of genuine love a husband and wife should have. It was more of infatuation and emotions. At the time, I thought I was in love, but deep down I feel I have never had real love.”
The 45-year-old singer further revealed that she has never had anyone in her life with whom she felt a unique connection or shared true love, despite trying many times.
She said, “I have never had true love in my life. I tried so many times to love, but it just didn’t work for me. Maybe love was simply not meant for me in this life.”
Tiwa, who has been in the music industry for over a decade and found great success, married Balogun before the two separated after having one son together, Jamil.
In recently post, Tiwa Savage disclosed that she had deep feelings for Afrobeats superstar Wizkid. However, according to her, Wizkid did not reciprocate those feelings at the time, as he only saw her as a close friend.
Tiwa Savage is regarded as one of the most influential female artists in Africa, known for hit songs such as Koroba, All Over, and Loaded.
