President Paul Kagame on Tuesday, July 16, chaired a cabinet meeting at Urugwiro Village, during which several key appointments were made across government institutions and public agencies.
In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, veteran diplomat Amb. Vincent Karega was proposed as Rwanda’s Ambassador to Algeria, while Innocent Muhizi was appointed as the country’s High Commissioner to Singapore.
In Parliament, Alphonsine Mirembe was named the new Clerk of the Chamber of Deputies.
Several ministries also saw changes in senior leadership. In the Ministry of Health, Muhammed Semakula was appointed Permanent Secretary, with Sophie Nabananimana as Director General for Corporate Services.
The Ministry of Infrastructure welcomed Gisele Umuhumuza as Permanent Secretary and Canoth Manishimwe as Director General for Corporate Services.
At the Ministry of Environment, Fidèle Bingwa was appointed Permanent Secretary, while the Ministry of Sports named Candy Basomingera to the same role. Aristarque Ngoga will now serve as the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry in charge of Emergency Management.
In the justice sector, the cabinet appointed Prudence Biraboneye as Secretary General of the National Public Prosecution Authority. Amb. Jeanine Kambanda was named Secretary General of the National Commission for Human Rights.
In public enterprises, Asaph Kabaasha was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC), while Hortense Mudenge was named Chief Executive Officer of the Kigali International Financial Center.
