The GEN-Z Comedy Show has issued a public apology following remarks made by guest performers Yaka and Nzovu during their appearance on the May 2, 2025 episode.
The show’s management took the initiative to address the issue before any public complaints were made.
According to a statement released on May 7, the performers used language that was later considered inappropriate and inconsistent with the show’s values.
A particular term used during the show—”KUBOMORA”—was highlighted for its association with promoting promiscuity, prompting the showrunners to take responsibility and clarify their stance.
Yaka and Nzovu, who have built a strong following on platforms such as TikTok, YoutTube, and Instagram, are known for their humorous, street-style performances and catchy slang.
Their influence has grown significantly among Rwandan youth, with many of their expressions widely adopted.
Despite the incident, the GEN-Z Comedy Show remains one of the fastest-growing comedy platforms in the country.
As a show that airs twice a month, it has captured the attention of viewers through its youth-driven content and creative approach to comedy. The show is also beginning to attract sponsorships, including notable partners such as the City of Kigali.
