Gen-Z comedy marks 3 years with new ticket prices and top performers

Gen-Z Comedy marks 3 years of laughter with one of its most anticipated shows.

Gen-Z Comedy, one of Rwanda’s most popular stand-up comedy events, is set to celebrate its third anniversary on March 27, 2025, with a special edition featuring top Ugandan and Rwandan comedians.

As the event grows in popularity, ticket prices have doubled to match its increasing demand. The Regular ticket, previously 5,000 Rwandan Francs, is now 10,000 RWF, while VIP has increased from 10,000 RWF to 20,000 RWF. Additionally, a new VVIP category has been introduced for the first time, offering an exclusive experience at 35,000 RWF.

Over the past three years, Gen-Z Comedy has built a dedicated fanbase, frequently selling out. Attendees arriving late often find all seats taken.

The anniversary show is expected to be its biggest yet, featuring over 15 performers, including renowned Ugandan comedians from Comedy Store, alongside leading Rwandan comedians who have established their names through Gen-Z Comedy.

“We will have a show within a show. Uganda’s Comedy Store will be part of Rwanda’s Gen-Z Comedy on that special night,” said Fally Merci, the event’s founder, during an interview on RTV’s “RBA Iwacu” program.

Launched by Rwandan comedian Fally Merci, Gen-Z Comedy started in Rugando before moving to Mundi Center and eventually Camp Kigali, where it now takes place twice a month.

Fally Merci, the founder of Gen-Z Comedy, has been instrumental in nurturing and showcasing new comedic talents.
