President Paul Kagame urged residents and leaders to double efforts towards accelerating the economic growth, unity and well-being of citizens, and leverage the western pressure into a source of strength as a resilient people.
The President delivered the message on Sunday, March 16 at the BK Arena, where thousands of residents from different parts of the country gathered to meet him in a citizen outreach entitled #KwegeraAbaturage.
He urged Rwandans to go against the grain and, with collective efforts, develop the nation without infecting or hindering anyone or anything.
“We want to thrive as a people and have good relations with our neighboring and western countries, but they should respect our security.” He added
President Kagame emphasized that Rwandans should equally respond to the threats and intimidation by the antagonist.
“If you beat me on one cheek, I am going to slap you elsewhere.” He said,
While reflecting on the country’s history and depicting how it rose from ashes, Kagame assured Rwandans security and progress.
“There is nothing worse that can happen to us than what happened to us 30 years back. That’s why we should not fear anything, that’s why we should do everything possible not to return back.”
