Good News Choir on stage at Huye Campus main Auditorium
One of the Choirs that have been doing missions for long at the University of Rwanda, Huye Campus, Good News Choir held a historic concert to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The event has also attended by a newly elected Vice Chancellor of University of Rwanda and others with several positions.
It is a concert that took place on the evening of July 23, 2022 at the University of Rwanda, Huye Campus main Auditorium, which usually hosts various conferences and events. The concert started around 6:00 pm, was marked by high attendance and uncharacteristically enthusiastic singing by the audience.
Songs such as ‘By The Rivers of Babylon’, ‘One Love’ by Bob Marley and others performed live by Good News Choir were among those that raised the spirits of the audience and joined the performers for singing and dancing. The UEFA Champions League Anthem that was sung and played live by ‘Chorale Illuminatio’ with many others made the audience in main Auditorium to stand up and join the performers singing them.
The concert was tittled Jamboree, a Swahili term which means a large celebration and one of Master of Ceremony was Keza Melissa who was among the top 20 contestants in Miss Rwanda 2022 competition. Univesity of Rwanda Vice Chancellor, Dr Kayihura Muganga Didas, joined Good News Choir at the stage and sang ‘By The Rivers of Babylon’ song by Bob Marley which made all audience cheering up.
The leader of Good News Choir, Niyonzima Diocres, The Kaminuza Star said that they were very happy with the great performance and that they collaborated with the management of the University of Rwanda.
“We have performed Jamboree Concert to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the choir. It is a joy for us to be with different people including Vice Chancellor of University of Rwanda who is one of the co-founders of Good News Choir. The event has gone well and still going on as we planned and really wanted, I feel we have succeeded”, He reacted.
Good News Choir was founded in 1995 and approved in 1997 by 7 peoples including Vice Chancellor the University of Rwanda, Dr Kayihura who also gave its name. It is currently consists of more than 100 singers. It works in the Catholic Parish, St Dominique of the University of Rwanda, Huye Campus and has also has a branch at Kigali.
During celebration of its 25 years jubilee, other choirs based in the campus such as Chorale Le Bon Berger, La Voix Des Anges, Illuminatio, La Fraternité and Christus Vincit based in Kigali also performed. Among the other leaders of the University who attended the event were newly elected Deputy Vice Chancellor for Strategic Planning and Administration, Dr. Reymond Ndikumana, the Administrator University of Rwanda Huye Campus, Jean Bosco Shema even others.
