The winners were awarded smatphones and other Infinix Mobile Company-related products
Infinix rewarded on Wednesday 19th July smartphones to the best athletes who contested at Infinix Marathon Competition held at the University of Rwanda, Huye campus.
It was in the contest organized by Infinix Mobile Phone Company in partnership with the University of Rwanda.
The marathon was attended by two categories: male and female contestants adding disabled students who joined the others. The first three contestants at the levels of 200 and 1500 meters.
Viateur Hakuzwe, a participant and the first winner of the 200 meters expressed his feelings and thanked the University of Rwanda’s contribution to the sports.
“I’m excited because of the victory. This victory strengthens me although I am an athlete on the national team. I have minimized the running time in the second round compared to the first one. University of Rwanda helps us in our everyday activities and I am grateful”, Viateur expressed.
Speaking to The Kaminuza Star, Sylvie Li, the Marketing Director for Infinix Mobile Company, thanked all the participants who joined the event including the UR-Huye students their Students Union organization. She promised the progressive partnership and events through which they will portray their talents.
“We normally appreciate the attitudes of the younger generation, so we always try our best to approach the youngest generation like you. We are always trying to bring you the most stylish technology. I think this marathon is more successful. If you like this kind of activation, may be we will come back to give you more opportunities to show your talent” ,Sylvie Li said.
She said the Infinix Mobile Company has never tried it before in Rwanda as it was trying to see if it works at the University of Rwanda. Additionally, she revealed the university students as their best customers.
The Campus Administartion helped to reward the winners
The first three athletes who contested in 200 and 1500 meters were awarded various brand new Infinix phones including their complete except all disabled contestants who were rewarded particularly.
Clementine Girimbabazi who contested amd won, was awarded after winning in 200 meters (women) using 33 seconds, while the first male contestant is Viateur Hakuzwe who used 24 seconds.
The first male contestants in 1500 meters are Alfred Kwitonda who won after 4 minutes 52 seconds whereas the female contestant is Emerance Mukamusoni who used 6 minutes.
Nevertheless, Infinix Marathon was not the only activity, but also a football match that joined the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) with the College of Business and Economics (CBE).
The athletic referees, the football, the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, striker, match commentators, and the best fans were also rewarded with the Infinix Mobile Company-related products.
